Loving Hands Shawl Ministry
The Loving Hands Shawl Ministry was started several years ago after some of our church members were inspired during an annual gathering for our regional UCC churches. We are also inspired by the work done through the shawlministry.com efforts. Our group meets on the last Saturday of every month from 9:30 to 11:00 at St. Mary's UCC. We use the time to knit, or crochet as a group and to reflect on what this ministry means to us. After completion of a shawl they are blessed by the group and given with love to many different people. To date we have given out over 100 shawls to - new members of our church, our graduating confirmation class, members and friends who are experiencing health challenges in their life, as support to those who are in need of warmth of love, and even to very special people in our lives who inspire us individually to create a shawl. Anyone is welcome to join our group, you do not have to be a member of St. Mary's. |
